The other day, a friend asked me if I’m still getting up at 5 a.m. every day.
I said, “No, I get up around 7 a.m. now.”
She asked me, “What did you have to heal to get there?”
I had not thought about it before she asked, but what I had to heal was burnout.
I’ve been in therapy to overcome work anxiety and burnout for over a year now, and here are the 10 principles I came up with to try and live by:
- Reject the hustle mentality.
- Honor your boundaries.
- Rest intentionally.
- Challenge unrealistic deadlines.
- Add joyful activities to your schedule.
- Delegate to people you trust.
- Get in tune with your intuition.
- Pursue fulfilling activities outside of work.
- Refocus your attention.
- Honor your personal needs.
